Supreme Court grants interim bail to Tamil Nadu minister KT Rajenthra Bhalaji

The former Tamil Nadu Minister( KT Rajenthra Bhalaji) from AIADMK party was arrested on January 5, 2022. The police arrests him on the suspicion of his involvement in government jobs scam. He was arrested by the Tamil Nadu Police on 5th January, 2022 and kept him in Trichy Jail which was not within the jurisdiction of the court where he was arrested. And after that he had moved the Supreme Court for his anticipatory bail.

The Bench comprising of Chief Justice of India NV Ramana, and Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli orally observed that the Court has no tolerance for corruption, it will examine whether the arrest is a political strategy.

The Apex Court, deemed appropriate to grant interim bail to the accused (Mr. KT Rajenthrabhalaji) for a period of four weeks from today,” in view of the guidelines for arrest laid down in Arnesh Kumar case (Arnesh Kumar v. State of Bihar, (2014) 8 SCC 273).

The Apex Court, implied the following conditions while granting him the interim bail:-

– He has to surrender his passport to the concerned Magistrate;

– He should not leave the place of the jurisdictional police station;

– The accused should participate in the investigation with the Investigating Authority;
