Mumbai Court grants bail to Akash Suyal in Clubhouse chat case
On 31st March,2022; a Mumbai court granted Akash Suyal’s bail in a case presented by; the Mumbai Police Department for making derogatory remarks about women; on the Clubhouse smartphone chat application.
After the inquiry against Akash Suyal completed; the Metropolitan Magistrate KC Rajput in Bandra, Mumbai, announced; the judgement in a bail plea submitted U/s 437 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
After a complaint lodged by two ladies; who claimed; they were defamed after their; images went viral and were a hot subject in the Clubhouse mobile application chatroom, Akash Suyal, along with; his two friends Jaishnav Kakkar and Yashkumar Parashar, were caught by the Mumbai Police.
On Thursday, a complaint filed in this matter. The Mumbai Police arrested Akash Suyal for; the offences under sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), section 295A (malicious acts outraging religious feelings); section 354D (stalking), section 509 (insulting modesty of woman), and; section 500 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code; as well as section 67 (publishing / transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act.
Akash, the primary accused; applied for bail before; the Metropolitan Magistrate’s court under Section 437 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
His bail application made by Advocate Akshay Bafna; who requested parity between his client and the co-accused, who granted release by the same court in February 2022.
He asked attention because of his young age and the potential for disaster in his life.
In his application, Akash stated that; the investigation into his case had been concluded, and that; any more detention would jeopardise his future.
