E-Courts to be linked with and Records
The Government has rolled out a proposal to link e-courts with land records and registration databases. This shall help the bonafide buyers know whether the land to buy is under any legal dispute. It is anticipated that in a long visionary run, the proposal shall reduce dubious transactions and help in dispute containment, along with reducing the clogging of the courts’ system, in turn reducing the huge pendency in the Indian Courts. This project is the first of its kind. However, it has been successfully completed in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. It is expected that soon the project shall be launched for the rest of the country.
The Department of Justice has requested the registrar generals of all the High Courts to provide clearance to state governments to integrate land records and registration database with e-courts and National Judicial Data Grid for speedy disposal of property disputes. Eight high courts have so far responded. As per a report published by the Mint, eight high courts have so far responded.
