A petition was filed before the Supreme court seeking a nod for vaccination of the judges, court staff, lawyers, and their staff. But the same was opposed by the central government.
In the affidavit as a form of a reply, the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Manohar Agnani submitted before the Court that it would inappropriate to create a separate class consisting of various people including lawyers and judges as it can be seen as discrimination towards persons engaged in other trade or profession.
Further, in the reply, it is submitted that lawyers and staff who are above 60 years of age or are above 45 years old with co-morbidities are anyways covered by the present vaccination drive.
The petition was moved by Mr. Arvind Singh to include the judges and other law professional to get into the priority list for the vaccination of COVID-19
Further, an answer was submitted by the government giving clarifications regarding providing vaccines to foreign nations, it is contended that only those vaccines are exported which are beyond the manpower and infrastructural facilities available for administration of the same.
