BJP MLA Nitesh Rane moves Bombay High Court after lower court denies bail;

 The Sessions Court; In Sindhudurg, Maharashtra denied his bail application today, observing that; custodial interrogation  required in the attempt to murder case where he is an alleged conspirator.

 Nitesh Rane, a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly; has applied to the Bombay High Court for bail after a court in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra;denied his bail application in an attempted murder case.

The son of Union Minister Narayan Rane {BJP}; is accused of being the main conspirator behind a murder attempt on a Shiv Sena member;on December 18, 2021, in Maharashtra’s Kankavli region.

In his bail application; through Advocate Satish Maneshinde highlighted that;“this is a classic case of political vendetta or rivalry at the behest of the ruling dispensation against the applicant and his father.”

He prayed for bail on the following grounds:

  • That the FIR  filed solely to prevent Rane from; participating in the Sindhudurg Co-operative Bank district elections, which  scheduled for December 30, 2021.
  • The vital point in this case ;  “cat-calling incident” outside Vidhan Bhawan involving State Cabinet Minister Aditya Thackeray and the son of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
  •  the complainant in the current case; a Shiv Sena party worker, was campaigning with Rane’s opponent in the district bank elections, which  implying that; the case  motivated by political vendetta and involved false implication.
  •  there is nothing on record to suggest that;if he is released on bail, he will abuse his liberty.
  • That he has deep roots in society and has no intention of evading or fleeing justice.
  •  there is a third wave of the COVID pandemic; particularly in Maharashtra, and that detention would be detrimental to his health.

The current bail application was filed after; his bail application was denied by the District and Sessions Court in Sindhudurg today.
