After Ramesh Jarkiholi Resignation, 6 Karnataka Ministers Move Court Seeking Media Gag
On March 5 some ministers file a suit were to restrain the media from airing/printing/publishing any defamatory content against ministers. The Six BJP State Ministers have approached the City Civil Court. It begins from the days after the water resources minister; Ramesh Jarkiholi in the BS Yediyurappa-led Karnataka government submitted his resignation after being accused of demanding sexual favors from an unidentified woman in exchange for a job.
The six Ministers named SHIVARAM HEBBAR, BC PATIL, H T SOMASHEKHAR, K SUDHAKAR, NARAYAN GOWDA, and BHYRATI BASAVARAJ have sought directions against a total of 68 media houses through their editors. The hearing of this matter is on Saturday. All the ministers had defected to the BJP; from the Congress and JDS in July 2019 leading to the fall of the previous coalition government. All ministers were disqualified and won by the December election held in 2019 and subsequently made Cabinet ministers. On Saturday an additional civil magistrate will take up the matters for orders.
