Delhi High Court reserves verdict on plea seeking details of Supreme Court Collegium meeting
The Delhi High Court has reserved its decision on a petition challenging the Central Information Commission’s (CIC) decision refusing an RTI request for information about the Supreme Court Collegium meeting on 12th December, 2018.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan appearing on behalf of petitioner stated that; he provided the agenda for the December 2018 meeting of the Collegium, as well as a copy of the decision made at that; meeting to those who are entitled to get it.
A petition filed before the Delhi High Court against the non-disclosure of the facts of the meeting of the collegium.
Anjali Bhardwaj, the petitioner filed a petition before the Delhi High Court, claiming that; she used RTI to obtain information about the collegium meeting, which held on December 12, 2018. Her request for information turned down by the Supreme Court’s Central Public Information Office (CPIO).
Based on the petition, the meeting of the collegium held on December 12, 2018, in which certain decisions made but no information regarding the same put on the internet, which Justice Madan Lokur, a Supreme Court judge and member of the collegium, expressed remorse over in an interview.
The case heard by Justice Yashwant Varma in the Delhi High Court.
